The Electoral Commission has benefitted greatly from Anna Salaman’s experience and approach. Acting on a glowing recommendation, we contracted Anna and her colleague Claire Adler to support us in the development of an evaluation framework and targeted user surveys to determine the effectiveness of new set of political literacy resources we were developing for 14-18 year olds in the run to crucial Scottish Parliament and Welsh Senedd elections in May 2021. Gathering feedback from educators and young people was crucial in determining whether we’d met user need, as well as informing our future learning strategy. Anna proved to be very easy to work with, and was most professional in her approach to the establishment of the first Huguenot Museum in this country. Her knowledge of the ‘inner workings’ of the HLF proved to be invaluable as we were complete novices – she led us successfully through the tortuous rounds of the HLF application process resulting in a £1.2m.  This was an excellent result as we were applying for a new project that had no track record. As novices we were unaware of the importance of the educational side of our project to the HLF, and Anna focussed our application in this area, which I believe significantly helped in our success. We are now more than two years into the live running of the Huguenot Museum. Visitor numbers are steadily increasing, our current Education Officer is making strides in involving local schools and other establishments, and we have a very healthy ongoing annual series of exhibitions and displays.

I believe that our success is largely due to the sound foundation that Anna set in place for us.
